The West Midlands regions, past and present, is steeped in industrial heritage. The origins of large-scale manufacturing are directly traced back to the Midlands. In fact, Birmingham had been described as “the first manufacturing town in the world” in 1791 earning a reputation as a city of multiple trades. It, in turn, gave rise to various factories and innovative manufacturing plants throughout the entirety of the Midlands.
